2017 Election Information
The Election for City offices is held on the second Saturday in April every other year.
The date of the 2017 City Election is Saturday, April 8th. Voting will take place at the New Castle Senior Center, located at 400 South Street from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
2017 Candidates List 2/22/17
Seats up for election in 2017 are:
- City Council President (4 year Term)
- Two Council Seats (4 year terms)
- City Council Seat (2 year term), (fulfilling the remainder of Councilperson Vannucci’s term.)
- City Treasurer (4 year term)
- City Clerk (4 year term)
Absentee Ballot Information: Absentee ballots will be available at the City Administration office located at 220 Delaware Street.
Voting Information: In order to vote in the City election, you must be at least 18 years of age, a resident of the City of New Castle for at least 30 days and a registered voter in the State of Delaware.
Candidate Information: The requirements of candidates to file for elected office are:
* must have resided in the City for two years before election;
* at time of election must be a qualified voter of the City.
Filing forms and information regarding filing are available at the City Administration office for anyone who wishes to be a candidate. Filing forms will be available from January 3rd to February 24th. The filing deadline is Friday, February 24th at 5:00 p.m. Call 302-322-9801 for information.
