Patrolman Charles Thorn of the New Castle City Police Department

On October 22, 1926 at 11:00 p.m., Patrolman Charles Thorn of the New Castle City Police Department was patrolling the streets of this city on his motorcycle.  In the vicinity of 4th and Delaware Streets, the motorcycle was struck by a vehicle. Patrolman Thorn was killed instantly. Patrolman Charles Thorn was the first member of the New Castle City Police Department to be killed in the line-of-duty.
