Parks & Recreation:

The City of New Castle ’s Summer Recreation Program offers an opportunity for children to participate in a six week fun-filled morning program at Battery Park. It is open to all children between the ages of 5 and 14 who reside within the City limits. The program includes outdoor activities, field trips, and many planned events.

Registration Fees:
$5.00 per child.

Program Dates:  To be determined for 2012, six week program

Hours and Locations:
Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Battery Park – Third & South Streets
Note: Program may run later on field trip days. When it rains, the program will be moved to the New Castle Presbyterian Church on E. 2nd St.

Special events:
Swimming, Bowling, Talent Show and Tour of Commerce Park (Phillies)

Summer Recreation Program Rules:
Parents, please go over the following rules with your child before he/she begins the Summer Recreation Program.

  • Children must follow all rules and regulations given by the counselors.
  • Children must behave appropriately. The Recreation Supervisor will notify parents is there is a problem. If a problem persists, the child will lose recreational privileges. This includes field and swimming trips. Children must act in an orderly manner.
  • When riding the bus to and from a trip, order will be maintained or that child’s privilege to attend trips in the future may be taken away.
  • Children should obey counselors and stay with them on all trips at all times.
  • When swimming, children must follow the pool rules set by the Delaware Swim and Fitness Centers.
  • Verbal abuse or inappropriate language by the children is not acceptable.
