2017 Candidates List 03/20 Final The Election for City offices is held on the second Saturday in April every other year.
The date of the 2017 City Election is Saturday, April 8th.
Voting will take place at the New Castle Senior Center, located at 400 South Street from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

To obtain an Absentee Ballot, contact the Absentee Ballot Clerk, Diane Delgado at 322-9804, or in person at 220 Delaware Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Affidavits for Absentee Ballots will be available from the City Office, during normal business hours, Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning March 1st.
Added dates and times when Affidavits for Absentee Ballots and State Voter Registration will be available at the City Office are: Thursday, March 30th from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 1st from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. *State Voter Registration is available at the City Office during normal business hours; the deadline to register to vote in the April 8th Election is Monday, April 3rd.
April 7th at 12 noon is the deadline to request an affidavit for Absentee Ballots from the City Administration office, 220 Delaware Street.
April 7th at 4:30 p.m. is the deadline for Absentee Ballots to be turned in to the City Office. Absentee Ballots may also be brought to the polling place on the day of the Election.

Qualifications to Vote in the Election (from the New Castle City Charter):
At any municipal election of the City of New Castle all individuals who shall have attained the age of eighteen 18 at the time of the election who shall have been a resident of the City of New Castle for thirty 30 days preceding said election shall be entitled to vote provided however that said person is otherwise qualified to register to vote *and has registered to vote as required by the Election Laws of the State of Delaware 15 Del C Chapter 75 five 5 days prior to said election. The Board of Elections shall decide on the legality of the votes offered.
