Public Notice – 3rd St and 4th St Paving Project
Delmarva Power is planning to mill and pave 3rd and 4th Streets from October 23rd through October 30th. . Residents are reminded that parking will be restricted in that area during the duration of the project.
Roads will be closed during the following schedule:
October 23rd 7 am- 5pm Milling W 4th St from Delaware Ave to South St
October 24th 7 am- 5pm Paving W 4th St from Delaware Ave to South St
October 25th 7 am- 5pm Milling W 3rd St from Delaware Ave to South St and Foundry Ln
October 28th 7 am- 5pm Paving W 3rd St from Delaware Ave to South St and Foundry Ln
October 29th 7 am- 5pm Milling E 4th St from Delaware Ave to Harmony St
October 30th 7 am- 5pm Paving E 4th St from Delaware Ave to Harmony St

Help Initiative to Begin in Dobbinsville today, Monday, 10/14
We are looking forward to the Help Initiative team visiting Dobbinsville and beginning the Lights On Delaware Strong program there today.
With the support of the Mayor and City Council of the City of New Castle and the City of New Castle Police Department, representatives from the HELP Initiative will be going door to door throughout the City to offer their services to residents for the Lights On Delaware Strong Program. Installation team members will be knocking on doors and placing door hangers on doors to provide you with information of their services. The HELP Initiative team members will replace outdoor light bulbs with energy efficient dusk to dawn LED bulbs. If you do not have a light fixture installed, the installation team can install a Solar Motion, LED Flood Light which is implemented by the HELP Initiative.
This is a voluntary NO COST program.
The goal of this program is to improve street and residential illumination, while reducing household energy expenses by up to 30%.
Residents can fill out the form on the door hanger and place back on their front door to indicate their interest and acceptance of this free service OR Call toll-free (833)-888-0410 to inform the team of your interest in accepting the free service.

2- Hour Parking Signs Removed on Delaware St. Between 4th & 5th Streets
As announced at the 10/8/2024 City Council meeting, we have removed parking signs on Delaware St. between 4th & 5th Streets. The signs have been replaced with a speed sign and a yield to pedestrian sign.

Exciting News! Temporary bike racks have been installed on Delaware Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets. Residents are encouraged to use the bike racks during their travels throughout the City while they enjoy all of the wonderful amenities and events our City offers. The City has received a letter that Sycamore Wine Bar LLC. has on August 14th, 2024, applied with the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commissioner for a taproom license with full spirits and Sundays. for a premise located at 208 Delaware Street, Unit C., New Castle, 19720.
Anyone with concerns against this application should provide written notice of their objections to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commissioner. The Commissioner must receive one or more documents containing a total of at least 10 signatures of residents or property owners located within 1 mile of the premises or in any incorporated areas located within 1 mile of the premises. The signatures of residents or property owners must also include the mailing address for the property and the email address (if one exists) for the resident or property owner. The protest(s) must be filed with the Office of Alcoholic Beverage Control Commissioner (OABCC) at the 3rd Floor, Carvel State Office Building, 820 North French Street, Wilmington, DE 19801. Work at the Pier- Friday, 8/2/24 and Monday, 8/5/24
The contractor for the Floating Dock will be test driving a pile tomorrow 8/2 and Monday, 8/5 in order to work on the Floating Dock project.
Residents are cautioned that this may be noisy.
