Public Notice Washington Street, New Castle Railroad Crossing Maintenance Washington Street Closure beginning November 28, 2022 at 5:00 a.m. (Subject to schedule or weather change) The Norfolk Southern Railway Company, with support from DelDOT’s Railroad Section, will be resurfacing and performing general maintenance at DOT Crossing No. 540883S on Washington Street in New Castle.  The Norfolk Southern Railway Company, and their Subcontractors, will replace the existing railroad crossing surface and repair damaged rails at the crossing. The work will require a full closure of Washington Street at the Norfolk Southern railroad crossing with detours posted in the area. The northbound detour will direct traffic on Washington Street onto Seventh Street/River Road (SR 9) to Hamburg Road to South Dupont Highway (US 13) to Frenchtown Road (SR 273) back to Washington Street. Mosquito Spraying Tonight in New Castle Delaware DNREC –Weather permitting; the Delaware Mosquito Control Section plans the following insecticide application(s) during the evening hours on Thursday, October 6, 2022: Application of Zenivex E4 (Etofenprox) with a truck-mounted sprayer to control adult mosquitoes in the following areas: Twin Spans Industrial Park and Glebe Cemetery in New Castle. For notification purposes, spraying will be done in the following zone(s): 30. All insecticides to be used are registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for mosquito control and will be applied according to EPA-approved label instructions. The EPA has determined that these insecticides do not pose unreasonable risks to human health, wildlife, or the environment. River Towns Ride & Festival Rescheduled for Saturday, October 22nd The 10th annual River Towns Ride & Festival provides riders the opportunity to visit the historic riverfronts of New Castle, Delaware City and Wilmington while earning medals based on distance completed.
