Date Posted: Monday, December 16th, 2019We will be closing the offices at 1:30 on Monday, the 23rd, for the City Holiday Celebration. City Offices will be closed on Tuesday, December 24th, Wednesday, December 25th and Wednesday, January 1st for the Holidays. The City of New Castle Public Works Department Holiday Week Pick-up Schedule: There will be NO Trash Pick-up on Tuesday, December 24th OR Wednesday, December 25th. Monday’s trash will be picked up on Monday, December 23rd. Tuesday’s trash will be picked up on Thursday, December 26th. There will be NO Yard Waste Pick-up for the week. There will be a CITYWIDE RECYCLE Pick up on Friday, December 27th. The City of New Castle Public Works Department New Year’s Week Pick-up Schedule: There will be NO Yard Waste Pick-up on Wednesday, January1st. There will be normal Recycle pick up on Thursday, January 2nd & Friday, January 3rd.

The program significantly builds on the state’s efforts to redevelop Delaware’s commercial business districts and drive private investment in towns and cities. Governor Carney officially designated four new Downtown Development Districts – in Delaware City, Middletown, New Castle and Clayton. MSC – Interruption of Water Service due to Repairing Water Valve
Date Posted: Friday, September 13th, 2019MSC – Interruption of Water Service MSC will be repairing a broken water valve at the intersection of E. 5th St. and Harmony St. Prep work will begin on Monday, September 16th. There will be an interruption of water service on Tuesday, Sept. 17th , from approximately 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., for residents on E. 5th St. and residents on Harmony St. between 4th & 5th St. This interruption may cause some water discoloration and allow air to enter the system. If this occurs, please run your cold water until it is clear and the air has escaped. Please plan for the interruption by storing sufficient water. In the event of heavy or steady rain, the outage will be rescheduled.

Update from MSC: Delaware St. closing August 15th and 16th
Date Posted: Thursday, August 15th, 2019Unfortunately, we now need to shut down Delaware Street between 4th and 5th Streets this afternoon, August 15th. Detour signs will be posted to direct traffic around the work area and get individuals down town. It is anticipated that this work will go beyond 4:00 p.m. this evening. On Friday, Aug. 16th, Delaware Street will be closed between 5th and 6th Streets, and again detour signs will be posted. This work schedule may also extend beyond the 4:00 p.m. time frame. Thursday, August 15th, MSC’s Delaware Street Water Main Relining Project – Clearing of Service Lines
Date Posted: Wednesday, August 14th, 2019MSC-Press Release The majority of the MSC’s Delaware Street Water Main Relining Project was completed last week. MSC staff noted some corrections that need to take place immediately. The contractor will be returning to Delaware Street on Thursday 8-15-19 to excavate and clear several service lines. An emergency Miss Utility has been called in and it is expected the issue will be corrected by the end of this week. The work will require one lane traffic on Delaware Street with possible road closures. Every effort will be made to make this correction as quick as possible. The MSC appreciates the community’s patience during this project.
