Press Release: Full Closure on Buttonwood Avenue for Railroad Maintenance

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has advised motorists that Norfolk Southern Railroad will be replacing, repaving, and performing general maintenance on their railroad crossing on Buttonwood Avenue between Route 9/New Castle Avenue and Lukens Drive.
The work is scheduled to begin at 5 a.m. on Monday, September 25 until midnight on Wednesday, October 2, but could be delayed due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Detour Routes:
Eastbound: Buttonwood Avenue to Route 9/New Castle Avenue onto May Avenue to Single Avenue to Daniel Lane onto Howell Drive and return to Buttonwood Avenue.
Westbound: Buttonwood Avenue to Howell Drive onto Daniel Lane to Single Avenue to May Avenue to Route 9/New Castle Avenue and back to Buttonwood Avenue.
Detour signage will be posted for motorists.
