WATER RATES TO BE INCREASED
Municipal Services Commission’s rate design consultant, Utility Financial Solutions (UFS), recommended a 9% overall water revenue increase after reviewing the cost of service study. UFS also recommended reducing electric rates, which the MSC approved in May 2020. The electric rate reduction was a result of lower power supply costs. The water rate increase will result in an average residential customer experiencing an increase in their monthly bill of approximately $4.00. MSC is sensitive to customers experiencing additional financial burden during this national crisis (COVID-19 pandemic), which is why MSC delayed this rate increase from the recommended effective date of April 2020 to October 2020.
