City of New Castle and Delaware Italian American Foundation Partner to Bring “250 Ride” to Separation Day Celebration
City of New Castle, DE — The City of New Castle, in partnership with the Delaware Italian American Foundation, is proud to announce a special collaboration between the 250 Ride and the Separation Day Celebration, commemorating America 250 and Delaware 250 in Historic New Castle.
As part of the annual Separation Day Parade on Saturday, June 13 at 12:00 p.m., Caesar Rodney will make a ceremonial stop in Historic New Castle during his historic ride to Philadelphia to deliver the news of independence. Riding in an authentic horse-drawn carriage, Caesar Rodney will travel through the parade route accompanied by reenactors portraying the often-unheard voices of the American Revolution.
These living historians will engage with attendees along the parade route, sharing first-hand stories and perspectives of overlooked figures who played a role in the nation’s founding, offering a deeper and more inclusive look at American history.
“The City of New Castle is excited to welcome this unique and meaningful addition to our most treasured annual event,” said Antonina Tantillo, City Manager of the City of New Castle. “As we commemorate this milestone anniversary, we look forward to sharing our city’s rich history with residents and visitors alike.”
The Separation Day Celebration will take place June 12–13 and features a full schedule of family-friendly events, historical programming, and community festivities.
