City of New Castle to Turn The Town Teal on Monday, August 24th
Date Posted: Friday, August 21st, 2026The City of New Castle is participating in the national campaign to create awareness of ovarian cancer and its symptoms. Volunteers will Turn The Towns Teal by tying ribbons to light poles around New Castle’s historic business district at 10 a.m., Monday, August 24th.
The awareness initiative takes place annually in September, which is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. The Delaware Ovarian Cancer Foundation sponsors this campaign in its efforts to help save more women’s lives.
Mayor Leary passed a Proclamation at the August Regular City Council Meeting naming September as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in the City of New Castle and encourages all residents to participate by displaying teal ribbons and learning the warning signs of this silent disease.
