Summer Concert in Battery Park Cancelled Tonight

 

 

Due to the impending bad weather this evening August 13th, the summer concert in Battery Park, featuring Olivia Reynolds, has been cancelled.

REFUNDS FROM INDIAN RIVER CLOSURE TO BE CREDITED TO MSC CUSTOMERS WITH AUGUST BILLING

 

Thanks to the advocacy work on behalf of the MSC and our customers by the Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation (DEMEC). MSC received a refund in the amount of $182,000 for a portion of costs paid related to the closing of the Indian River Power Plant. At their July meeting, the Commissioners of the MSC unanimously voted to return these funds to MSC’s customers in the form of a one-time, negative power purchase adjustment on the August billing. This credit will show on customer’s bills as “IR REFUND.” The amount of your credit is based on your kWh consumption from July 13 – August 12 multiplied by $0.02351

The City of New Castle is excited to debut CodeRed, the City’s emergency and general alert system.  Residents are encouraged enroll in emergency alerts regarding traffic conditions; including road closures, inclement weather, missing persons, criminal activity, fires, utility outages

various threats to people, property, or the environment, and more.  Be sure to opt in for the communication method that will best reach you, or all of them- text, email, phone call, etc.

Due to the impending bad weather this evening July 16th, the summer concert in Battery Park, featuring Exit 93, has been cancelled.

Mosquito Control Spray

A message from DNREC-MOSQUITO CONTROL

Weather permitting; the Delaware Mosquito Control Section plans the following insecticide application during the daylight hours on Sunday, July 13, 2025:

Application of Vectoprime FG with an airplane (registration number N422JC) to control mosquito larvae in the following areas:

In and near New Castle and Wilmington (Southbridge).

For notification purposes, spraying will be done in the following spray zones: 22, 29, and 30.

All insecticides to be used are registered with the USEPA for mosquito control and will be applied according to USEPA approved label instructions.  The USEPA has determined that the insecticides to be used do not pose unreasonable risks to human health, wildlife, or the environment.
