Date Posted: Tuesday, April 21st, 2020City of New Castle Resident Notice Update Delaware Street Paving Project Date: April 21, 2020 The City has recently been informed that the work set to begin on Wednesday, April 22, between Third and Fourth Streets by City contractor Cirello, has been delayed until the week of April 27, with an expected start date of April 28. At this time any scheduled road closures will be postponed until that week. The City’s contractor Cirillo Brothers will begin replacing the street curbs on Delaware Street between 3 rd Street and 4th Street. The contractor will need to close one or both lanes of Delaware Street to vehicular traffic between 3 rd Street and 4 th Street each day to perform the work. Date Posted: Tuesday, April 7th, 2020UPDATE 4/6/20: Delaware City Refining Company will be conducting a series of steam venting, Monday through Friday of this week, April 6th. The venting is scheduled to take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. They plan to take all possible steps to minimize the noise levels and apologize in advance for any inconvenience their neighbors may experience. They do not anticipate the steam venting to have the same noise levels as prior venting, therefore there should be a minimal impact. Steam venting is a safety procedure implemented that releases steam through a vent as part of a routine process that we use at the refinery. Patone Phone: 302-323-2330 E-mail: patonep@newcastlemsc.delaware.gov For Immediate Release 3/30/2020 MSC ASSISTING CUSTOMERS AFFECTED BY COVID-19 During these uncertain times, the Municipal Services Commission (MSC) has suspended any disconnection of electric and water services and are waiving any new late fees for customers affected by COVID-19. Customers who are having difficulty making payments should contact the MSC’s Customer Service Department at 302-323-2330. The suspension of disconnections and late fees will continue through at least May 31, 2020. In addition, to these measures the MSC has contributed funds to the New Castle Cares Fund at the Salvation Army in order to provide financial assistance to individuals who need assistance paying their electric and water bills. DELAWARE STREET PROJECT UPDATE
Date Posted: Tuesday, January 7th, 2020*** UPDATE *** 1/28/20 With the work having already begun at the wharf by the City contractor Cirillo Brothers, the utility phase of the Delaware Street Project is set to begin on February 3rd. From Tuesday, January 28th until Friday, January 31st, Henkels and McCoy, the contractor for Delmarva, MSC, Comcast and Verizon will be doing preliminary work in order to prepare for the actual project to begin February 3rd; when they will begin saw cutting from 4th Street to The Strand. The saw cutting phase should take 5 days, with “No Parking” restrictions on various lengths of Delaware Street based on the daily progress made by the contractor.
