The City of New Castle Board of Health needs your help!

Date Posted: Thursday, March 19th, 2026

The City of New Castle Board of Health needs your help! We’d like to know more about what health-related topics are of interest to our community members. A survey to help us better understand your needs will be posted on the City website during the month of April and we would greatly appreciate it if our neighbors would take the couple of minutes (it’s very short!) to complete this survey. Also, please encourage others in your household to do the same – the more people of various ages who do this survey, the more complete our picture of what New Castilians want will be. IF you complete  paper survey at the City Health Fair in October of 2025, please don’t complete the electronic one as the information is the same and your responses have been recorded. Thanks so much for your help! The survey can be accessed directly at: […]

Welcome to the City of New Castle

Date Posted: Friday, May 8th, 2015

Step back in time and experience the charm and beauty of colonial New Castle. Walk the cobblestone streets and enjoy the historic sites of this riverfront community. Historic New Castle, Delaware is located just 10 minutes south of downtown Wilmington with easy access from I-95 and I-295. Overlooking the Delaware River, Historic New Castle is the oldest continuously occupied town in the Delaware Valley. And, thanks to preservation efforts, this vibrant, fully occupied community remains one of the most important Colonial/Federal villages in America – second only to Williamsburg, Virginia in the number and authenticity of its historic structures.  The New Castle Court House Museum is part of the the First State National Historical Park. New Castle, originally named Fort Casimir, was founded in 1651 by Peter Stuyvesant, who was sent to provide the Dutch with command of all river traffic. Because of its strategic location, ownership of the settlement […]
